Violet Orchids Recovery

"Escaping the Embrace of Trauma;  healing through Creative Expression"

Trauma effects far to many people and is becoming more and more prevalent. More people than you think bare scars from various forms of abuse and locked in silence it consumes their lives.  It is at the root of substance abuse, self harm, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, and a host of other mental health challenges.  We must break free from the chains of trauma and move forward allowing our most authentic selves to emerge.  Healing should always be beautiful, fierce, and unapologetic.

Violent Orchids Recovery is a place to find support and empowerment to make a choice to make a change.  Trauma can be healed through creative expression.  All content on this Website is original and produced by lived experience.   The original art and fiction writing gives voice to my own trauma.  There are also learning materials, educational resources, and content to inspire.  Through unconventional creative approaches, narratives can be rewritten.  Recovery is not easy and the journey is long; but with the right supports and a little bravery anyone can bloom into a Violet Orchid.

"The artist's mission is to make the soul perceptible. Our scientific, materialist culture trains us to develop the eyes of outer perception. Visionary art encourages the development of our inner sight. To find the visionary realm, we use the intuitive inner eye: the eye of contemplation, the eye of the soul. All the inspiring ideas we have originate there."

Why Violet Orchids?

The color violet has many rich meanings.  Violet often symbolizes: creativity, luxury, spirituality, calmness, individualism, humility, and melancholy.  All

Orchids likewise are very unique flowers.  Orchids are the largest family of flowering plants.  They come in over 25,000 varieties of flowers and colors.  There adaptability is to be envied, they can grow in different environments from artic tundra, to tropical rainforests, and even on rocks underground.  Interestingly, they are also highly sensitive to change once established; making them one of the first plants to be damaged during significant environmental change.  Historically they are one of the oldest flowers in existence, and it is thought that they have been around since Pangea.  They are also known to have healing powers in numerous ancient and modern cultures.  I don't know about you but I want to be like a violet orchid.
